    • Active Autowerke releases E60 545i, E70 745i N62 V8 performance ECU software -$499.00

The naturally aspirated 4.4 liter N62 V8 found in the E60 545i does not get a lot of love. Why? Well, one reason is this motor launched with BMW's Valvetronic variable valve lift system that complicates tuning a bit and also that enthusiasts who want to tune tend to opt for the M5. The N62 just does not get much attention from tuners similar to how the N52 naturally aspirated six-cylinder in the E9X 3-Series is ignored in favor of the N54 in the 335i.

Fortunately Active Autowerke is giving the N62 some love with a very reasonably priced $499.00 ECU tune. The tune is available for 91-93 octane fuels. For manual transmission cars, the rev limit is raised.

Horsepower gains are 8 peak wheel horsepower as shown on the conservative Active Autowerke Mustang Dyno. Peak HP does not tell the whole story as there are significant torque gains through the curve. Peak torque is increased by 15 pound-feet.

Expect greater gains with bolt on modifications to compliment the tune. Dynograph of a 545i flashed with the software below.
